Chaminade’s General Student Organization, commonly referred to as the GSO, has been collecting new, unwrapped gifts for the past few weeks. Led by Senior GSO moderator, Mr. Casey Giordano ‘93, the club procured these gifts, and donated them to Dryden Street School in Westbury. Many students made sure to bring in their gifts and drop them off in the Darby Auditorium lobby throughout the collection which began on December 2.
On December 14, GSO closed the collection, and loaded up the truck with a plethora of bags filled with gifts. “These gifts are going to make Christmas much more special for many of the students at Dryden Street School,” said GSO member Kieran Rodriguez ‘18. “Donating gifts is a great thing to do. GSO helps the community and shows outside schools what Chaminade is all about!”
His Eminence Timothy Cardinal Dolan welcomed special guests to St. Patrick’s Cathedral on Sunday, December 6. Chaminade’s varsity hockey team faced off against its longtime rival, St. Anthony’s, for the first time since the Flyers topped the Friars to capture the CHSAA title last season. The game took place at Iceworks in Syosset on Tuesday, December 8, and there was plenty of action from the start of the game.
On Thursday, December 3 and Friday, December 4, Chaminade held its annual Advent prayer services to remind each division that the Advent season signifies the preparation to celebrate the arrival of Jesus.
