[I]n life, we can take the road that more and more people take in modern society, the road of selfishness, or we can follow the road to the Cross, the dusty road in Jerusalem to self-denial and self-sacrifice.
The main celebrant at Thursday’s Mass was Father Andrew Garnett, the Associate Pastor at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish in West Islip. Father Andrew graduated from Chaminade in 2006, and Thursday marked the first time he returned to Chaminade to lead Mass.
On Saturday, September 12, Flyers Varsity Soccer took on the Commack Cougars in a friendly scrimmage.
The varsity and J.V. Chaminade football teams began their league campaigns on Saturday, September 19 at Gold Star Stadium with high hopes to start their journeys on the right path with wins over the St. Peter’s Eagles of Staten Island. Parents and alumni packed the stadium to support the Flyers.
As the Class of 2019 began their high-school journey, they were introduced to the idea of the “Chaminade Man” and other Chaminade traditions during their 3-C Week which ran from Monday, August 31 to Friday, September 4.
Sunken Meadow Park, already a very difficult course with many steep hills, was even tougher because of the extreme heat and humidity. It was difficult, but the Flyers lived up to expectations. The freshmen ran well, showcasing their speed during each race.
