Many people turned to video games to both clear their minds and connect with friends while social distancing.
A new addition to Chaminade’s already expansive summer offerings has been announced, and it is expected to draw a large number of attendees in its inaugural sessions.
Under the stewardship of Mr. Sebastian Agosti ’09, the Esports Camp has arrived!
Over the course of each week, campers will compete and fine-tune their skills in a variety of popular video games. Each session will spotlight a popular game with an emphasis on teamwork and cooperation.
“I believe this camp will be extremely popular,” said Mr. Patrick Reichart ’01. “I know firsthand how passionate so many of our students are about gaming, and I know Mr. Agosti will serve as a wonderful, knowledgeable guide as they pursue this passion. This summer should be a lot of fun for them.”
Campers will also learn about the rise of collegiate and career opportunities in the Esports industry.
End-of-the-week tournaments will be held, and students will learn how to broadcast their gaming on Twitch, a streaming platform popular among gamers.
As in traditional sports, the camp’s primary objective is to reinforce the values of teamwork and good sportsmanship in its participants.
This summer’s schedule is as follows:
Week 1: June 28 – July 2 (Grades 7-9)
Week 2: July 5 – July 9 (Grades 9-10)
