Mrs. Cali is the newest addition to Chaminade’s World Language department. Prior to Chaminade, Mrs. Cali attended the University of Santa Maria, a college in Venezuela and practiced law. Mrs. Cali’s plan was to move to the U.S., take the Bar Exam, and practice law in the U.S. as well. This plan changed, however, when she learned that New York was in need of language teachers. After one year of school for this, she became an Italian and Spanish teacher. Most recently, Mrs. Cali worked at Our Lady of Mercy Academy in Syosset and at Chaminade-Madonna in Florida.

Not only does Chaminade’s notable academic reputation stick out to Mrs. Cali, but also the school’s faith-driven mission impresses her. Within the two months Mrs. Cali has been here, she has noticed how the faculty and staff have been kind and supportive, helping her navigate the school and create a warm professional environment. She finds Chaminade to be comfortable and welcoming. Aside from the crowded hallways, Mrs. Cali admires how many spaces have retained their original style while others have been updated to meet the needs of a modern curriculum.
In the classroom, Mrs. Cali’s main goal is to improve her students’ knowledge by fostering a love of culture and language. She hopes for students to learn Spanish, practice it, and use it in their daily lives, perhaps even in their professional futures. Ultimately, Cali wants to witness her students being forged as menguided by the Word and the presence of God.
According to Mrs. Cali, the best part about teaching is the ability to make an impact on young students; she takes this responsibility quite seriously. As a teacher, seeing her positive messages inspire the young people around her is rewarding and worthwhile. Mrs. Cali is eager to prepare her students for life, service, and successful careers inspired by Catholic values.
