In the morning, the student body will assemble in the gym and Darby Auditorium. During the assembly, all students who have participated in a spring sport are called to the stage and presented a lapel pin recognizing their contributions to their respective sports. Last Friday, May 17, the seniors participated in one of the most anticipated events before graduation: the senior celebration cruise. On Friday night, the seniors boarded a boat with their dates and friends. They cruised around Manhattan and spent the night dancing and having fun with their classmates. The class of 2019 had a great time and experienced a night they will not soon forget.
Sodality Prayer Service
On Friday, May 24, the student body started the day with the Sodality Prayer Service. Just after announcements, the sophomore and junior members of Sodality moved to the courtyard. The prayer service was an opportunity to celebrate the month of Mary as well as to thank Mary for her guidance at Chaminade. Several members of Sodality assisted in leading their classmates in prayer, and Mr. Haslbauer, ’11 offered a personal reflection.
Paul J. Kim Faith Talk
Chaminade students began this past week with an Easter Faith Talk from Paul J. Kim on Monday, May 20. Mr. Kim is a much-sought-after and engaging faith speaker as well as a musical artist. He delivered an enthusiastic speech filled with jokes and even some beatboxing. The focus of the talk was taking one’s faith seriously and genuinely communicating with God. Mr. Kim ended his presentation with a guided meditation that helped everyone contemplate his or her own personal faith journey. Mr. Kim’s address reinforced the notion that God, like the father of the Prodigal Son, is always waiting to welcome us back.
