This weekend, the Speech and Debate Team will compete at the annual Princeton Classic in New Jersey. The team had a successful outing at their first national tournament in September at Yale University, and they seek to build upon their achievements at a tough competition. Speakers and debaters will compete in various categories, including Lincoln-Douglas Debate, Public Forum Debate, Extemporaneous speaking, and Congressional Debate. The tournament begins tonight and runs through Sunday afternoon. Good luck Flyers!

A Time to Reconcile with God

The Advent season begins this Sunday, December 2. This coming Monday and Tuesday, several priests from the Diocese of Rockville Center will listen to students’ confessions during religion classes. These days are one of the two school-wide opportunities that students have for reconciliation at Chaminade throughout the year.

‘Tis the Season

On Wednesday morning, additional time was set aside after homeroom so that students could prepare Chaminade for the Christmas season. Christmas trees, lights, ornaments, and several other decorations were put up in classrooms throughout the school to welcome in the festive spirit of the Christmas season.

Helping Neighbors in Need

Sisters and residents from Queen of Peace attended last week’s Thanksgiving Mass to accept donations from the Chaminade family. A longstanding Chaminade tradition, the drive collected toiletry items that Queen of Peace depends on to care for its residents. During the offertory, representatives from each homeroom presented a basket overflowing with donations. Sr. Maria Catherine said, “We welcome the neediest financially and spiritually, and we share special moments like today’s Mass and a Thanksgiving meal.” To learn more about the event, be sure to check out this video: Queen of Peace Basket Project.

Christmas Toy Drive

This past Wednesday, the annual Christmas Toy Drive began. The drive will run through December 14th, and students are reminded to bring in toys for those less fortunate.
