Christmas Concerts Come to Chaminade

Long-time conductor Mr. Robert Evans and the Flyers Band will be taking the stage again this Friday night.

Just two short weeks away from Christmas, members of Chaminade’s String Orchestra, Gold Band and Gold Glee Club performed an excerpt from their music catalogs before the entire student body earlier this week on Wednesday, December 13.

String Orchestra seniors Liam Furlong (left) and Brian Gallery bow their violins in time to the music.

The Gold Band opened with “A Christmas Festival,” a traditional medley of popular holiday tunes, followed by “Bugler’s Holiday,” a fast-paced piece featuring a trumpet trio (performed by three All-State members in the band).

The Gold Glee Club then sang “O Holy Night,” a magnificent carol filled with artistic melodies, and “Various Themes on Fa La La,” a creative, yet humorous arrangement featuring the traditional tune “Deck the Halls.”

These two groups, as well as the Crimson Band, Crimson Glee Club, Flyers Band, String Orchestra, Jazz Band, and Vocal Chamber Ensemble have been hard at work throughout the Fall to perfect their music, all in preparation for concerts this weekend.
