3 Up:

It’s That Time Again…

One week from today, freshmen and sophomores will take their Music and Health trimester exams, meaning the most wonderful time of the year is officially upon us. With exams creeping ever closer, there are a few things you can do to prepare. Gather all of your necessary notes, tests, quizzes, and other materials. Then, review all material during this upcoming three-day weekend, so you can ask your teachers any questions you may have when you see them next week. As exams get closer, make sure to drink enough water, eat healthy meals, and get plenty of sleep. Stay confident and calm during the tests to maximize brain output. All other trimester exams will be administered between December 18 and 20. Don’t forget to download the tests the night before, and good luck to all!

Dropping the Puck

The JV hockey team is in the early stages of its season, as freshmen on the team have been working with the current sophomores to develop their skills and fit into the Flyers’ system. Their first major test of the season will come against their rivals from Huntington, St. Anthony’s, next Tuesday (December 12) at 4:30 p.m. in Dix Hills at the Dix Hills Ice Rink. Come by and cheer on the Flyers, if you can make it!

Music to Our Ears

Since the beginning of the school year, Chaminade’s many glee clubs, bands, and orchestra have been preparing for their Christmas Concerts. These groups will debut their musical selections publically next Wednesday (December 13), when the student body gathers in Darby Auditorium from 8:20 to 9:10 a.m. for an abbreviated concert. Public performances will take place on Friday, December 15 and Saturday, December 16, both starting at 7:30 p.m. Click here to secure your tickets before it is too late!

3 Down:

Picking Up Where They Left Off

The varsity bowling team pushed its undefeated streak to 40 straight matches after a dominant performance against the Cougars of St. John the Baptist this past Tuesday (December 5) at the AMF Sheridan Lanes. The Flyers opened up the match with strong first sets and continued to perform at a high level throughout the match. Roll Flyers!

Pinned Ya Again!

Yesterday (December 6), Chaminade’s wrestling teams competed in road matches against student-athletes from John Glenn High School. The varsity team fought hard throughout the entire match, but came up short in the end. However, the JV team cruised to victory, as they continue to improve their skills. The team will take to the mats again this Saturday (December 9) at George W. Hewlett High School. Go Flyers!

The Reason for the Season

This morning (December 7), students were shown a 10-minute thank you video from Colegió San Jose in recognition of our donations to their recovery effort from Hurricane Maria. After the video concluded, seniors and juniors attended an Advent prayer service in Darby Auditorium. The event consisted of two short video clips followed by commentary, as well as two performances by the glee club. Freshmen and sophomores attended the same service, which was staged a second time after the juniors and seniors left Darby.
