3 Up, 3 Down: September 22 Edition

Today, Tarmac debuts 3 Up, 3 Down, a snapshot of the week that was and a peek forward at what is to come in the next seven days here at Chaminade. Flyers can navigate their way to chstarmac.com each Friday afternoon to view the latest installment…

3 Up:

The Sodality Opening Prayer Service is this Monday, September 25. Sophomores, juniors, and senior members, as well as their moderators, will gather to reflect and prepare for the upcoming year from 3:10 – 3:40 p.m. in Darby Auditorium and the Chapel of Our Lady’s Assumption. All students are welcome to attend!

The varsity football team has gotten off to a flying start this season. (See what I did there?) Chaminade has rolled to a 2-0 record and looks to add another win tomorrow, Saturday night (September 23) against Msgr. Farrell. The game starts at 7:00 p.m. at Msgr. Farrell High School in Staten Island. If you can make the trek, come and support your undefeated Flyers!

This past week, members of the National Honor Society nominated fellow students to serve as their president and vice-president, respectively. The student body will gather on Friday morning (September 29) in the Activity-Athletic Center to hear the results of the voting and recognize all students who qualified for the honor roll during the 2016-2017 school year.

3 Down:

Students have now triumphed through a full two cycles of their new block schedules. Sitting in the same classroom for 76 minutes – and sometimes as long as 112 – is certainly new to most of Chaminade’s students. Nevertheless, the Flyers wrapped up a successful 12 days of classes. Look for an article on the new schedule on chstarmac.com next week!

The Yearbook Ad Drive began Monday, September 18. This fundraiser is a great way to help support the staff of the Crimson and Gold as they seek to preserve our best high school memories in time…and on paper. All contributions will go a long way to helping your fellow Flyers create another award-winning book.

Seniors were rushing to get their hair cut and blazers ironed so they could look their best in their yearbook pictures this past week.

Besides making for great Instagram posts, the pictures will live on forever in the halls of Chaminade – for better or worse!
