JV Flyers Skate Their Way to the Championship Title

By Casey O’Reilly ’17

The JV Hockey team finished their season with a well-deserved win over long time rivals, St. Anthony’s to capture the divisional championship on Thursday, March 3.  The Flyers swept the Friars in a best of three series, which ended Chaminade’s season with an overall record of 15-3-0, with only one of those losses to St. Anthony’s in the regular season. The team also posted some very impressive statistics throughout the season, scoring a total of 72 goals, while only being scored upon 34 times.

“Winning the championship for the second year in a row was a great experience.” Ryan Mongan ’18

The JV team is filled with talent and will be moving many of its members up to the varsity team next year.  Forward Chris Parisi ’17  and Mike Hecht ’17 had outstanding seasons, and David Villani ’17 competently served as goalie. The junior class has no shortage of talent, and they will be more than motivated to avenge the upperclassmen’s loss in the championship.

Overall, the JV team’s successes from this year could very well carry over into next year.

Congratulations Flyers, and good luck next year!
